Unexplainable Love

Few weeks ago, I texted my friends with this question: “If you will be given an opportunity to travel back in time, and you appeared to the time when Jesus was being crucified, what will you feel and what you will going to say?” One of my friends said, “Deep joy, shame…[My heart] filled with gladness…and great honor for Jesus because He saved me.” Another one said, “I will bow down to Him and I will [give] thanks and praise Him for dying for me.” But this answer struck me for this past days, “..nung time na pinapanood ko nga lang [yung] crucifixion ni Jesus  sa Passion of the Christ umiiyak na ko eh what more pa kung babalik ako sa past and knowing na para sayo yung ginawa niya.”

Why the last statement struck me? Because if you will just watch the movie “The Passion of the Christ”, you will see the re-enactment of the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus, which is close to what’s really happened to Him two thousand years ago.

What I’m trying to point here?

Very simple. Once you feel like temptation is crawling over you, when you feel abandoned, when you feel like you’re a failure, when you sinned against God, when you are bitter, when you are broken, just imagine the suffering of Jesus: He was beaten; got lashed with a whip that has shrapnel-like stuffs at the end, tearing His back; the crown of thorns that has 2 or 7 inches of thick thorns, puncturing His brain, making Him disillusioned; forced to carry a very heavy cross that was made not from smooth wood, but with the rough one; walked almost a kilometer carrying that cross; when they came to Golgotha (Calvary), the huge nails were driven to His wrists and feet; struggled for three hours just to catch a breath; after that, He died.

While He was enduring that kind of inhumane suffering, He was thinking of you and me. He was thinking during that time, “I love you, my son/daughter.” “It hurts me a lot when you are in pain, I’m going to shoulder it here.” “I don’t want you to suffer like this in Hell, I’m going to receive all of these for you.” He suffered like that BECAUSE HE LOVES US!

What God has revealed to me is, we do not need to travel back in time just to see how He suffered because of His love for us, just live with the new life that God has given to us through the cross two thousand years ago. Just live on what Christ did. IT IS DONE!

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead…Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
