The True Essence of "Go and Sin No More"

The phrase “Go and sin no more” that Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, sometimes we take it so lightly and we were twisting its real context.

Sometimes we think that “Go and sin no more” was “Don’t sin and I will not condemn you”. First, we are always at risk of sinning (Sometimes we are falling to it). And its really hard to go away. But here’s what the first wrong context means: By means of good works and religious activities. We were trying to get more religious for us not to be condemed, but that’s not the true essence of it.

The second is “I don’t condemn you, everybody was sinning anyway.” We live this world and sin is with us. No exemption. Even the most religious and the nicest person in the world are all sinners. But that’s not the true essence of “Go and sin no more”.

Here’s the true essence of “Go and sin no more”: THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. The woman chose to stay in front of Jesus and that was the turning point of her life. She finally received the forgiveness of her sins through Jesus. That’s the true essence, God has forgiven all our sins and He gave us a new life free of sin. “Go and sin no more” was God’s word for all of us. He has already forgiven our sins through Jesus who died on the cross.

NO MORE SHAME. NO MORE GUILT. NO MORE CONDEMNATION. Because God has already forgiven all of us.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

– John 8:11
