The Essence of "Crazy" Style of Praise and Worship

Yes, this is not "crazy" enough, but this is close enough on being "crazy". Thanks to Lyka Gozon for this image.

Praise and Worship – How I love this moment. When the Worship Team started to blast the speakers, that’s the time for rock and roll! As they were playing,  that’s the time to do some “crazy” stuffs.

“Crazy” stuffs?! Yeah, “crazy” stuffs.

Let me ask first, what are things that enter in your mind when you heard the word “Praise and Worship”? When I’m not a Christian, these are the pictures that enters in my mind when I heard the word “Praise and Worship”:

  • One of the boring stuffs that “no-life” people do
  • When there are clapping of hands and waving hands in the air
  • Songs that will bore me out like “Alive! Alive!”

But as I grow in my relationship with God, gradually, my picture and style of praise and worship changed. Right now, we do some “crazy” stuffs like we carry some people and put it on the stage, jumping around, dancing, shouting, and some stuffs that you normally see in a rock concert.

Why we do that kind of stuffs? Because, the love of God is overflowing in our hearts. And doing some “crazy” stuffs is the result of that overflow because we want to ignite the hearts of the people for their love on God. And what’s the result? Some people became more passionate for God and most of them wants to go back in the church.

And, wait! Jesus also liked those “crazy” stuffs:

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”

“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

– Luke 19:37-40

Praise and worship is not all about the methods that we do, it’s the matter of what’s inside of your heart. Even we do some “crazy” stuffs, or we intent to stand still, we are doing it because we love God and we want to surrender to Him.
